Loved this! I had no idea the book would be so different than the movie. David Tennant did a fabulous job on the Audible version. A fun story that anyone will enjoy.

A fun children’s book, but the plot is a lot different then the movie version, which is honestly a good thing.

Such a fun adventure! What I didn't know before hand was that it was written by the same guy who wrote James Bond. But he brings that same sense of adventure and excitement but for children and families. It's a sweet and delightful story that leaves you wanting more of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

A fun read. The narrator did a really good job except for his bad guy voice was a bit obnoxious. Just a simple, imaginative children's story. We're seeing the play this week so decided to read the book and watch the movie beforehand. They're VERY different.

This book was not what I expected it to be. I read it for a school report a while ago, and...It's different than I remember. Of course, I only saw the movie...when I was like 5. Now, I'm not saying this book was bad, in fact, it was rather good. I just loved it when the gangsters came into the story ;) I will be rereading this soon, I hope.

Truly charming. I've always enjoyed the movie, and decided it was about time to read the book.

The 1968 movie is my top answer to that “movie you think you’ve seen more than anybody you know” meme. And I honestly did not know until very very recently that it was adapted from a book so I put a hold on it and now here we are. This was supremely charming and I will likely read the other books at some point, but since I am reading it for the first time as an adult with no children, I am confident it won’t supplant the movie (and its vastly different plot) as a staple bit of comfort media.

The Pott family rescues Chitty Chitty Bang Bang from the scrapyard. Father Pott, an eccentric inventor, spends days fixing the old race car. Finally he finishes and the family decides to go on an outing. The outing becomes an unlikely adventure as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang takes on a life of her own, sprouting winds, and a bottom to float in the ocean. Whimsical with whispers of my favorite Roald Dahl, who I kept comparing this book too. I think Dahl would have made it a better story :)

Would make a nice read aloud.
