This was ok.
It scratched the right reading itch and it’s quick enough to get you out of a slump.

I wanted to like this book, so much. There were real moments when the chemistry zinged. But it didn't hold together for me. Hot moments and as PWP, it was amazing. But I read for plot and strong characterization and it was so close, but didn't quite work for me. The two main characters kept acting OTC, and it was supposed to be explained by the fact they were drawn together. The shift wasn't quite enough for me. The main character wants to be an FBI agent, but some of the things he did, he should have known better than to do, because of his job. He's not going to abstain from relationships for years, so that his preferences don't come up in his background check, just to come to Vegas and get caught on camera because someone takes an interest.

Hot writing. Beautifully constructed scenes. If you're looking for a fun read, go for it. It is fun. Just suspend your disbelief and treat it as the fantasy it is, because you know, we all have them.

I liked this as much as it was possible for me to like it! Rich people romance never appeals to me, and some of the D/s aspects of this were a bit... idk, contrived? Overdone? Negotiation seemed to happen off screen or not at all, which... you hate to see it. Or not see it. Even though we had Ethan's POV and knew that he'd given his consent and knew he was enjoying it, it was still kind of uncomfortable. And while I'm glad this isn't any form of lifestyle D/s, the whole 'I own you' thing is a snoozefest lol. Also at one point Max says dark colours are for doms and people like Ethan should wear pastels, and dear god I think the lil asshole was being completely serious. LMAO??? My dude...

That said, I did like Ethan quite a lot. Fun, sweet, pragmatic, ambitious, stands up for himself and demands good treatment. And honey, I know it's your dream but is working for the feds and being a pig REALLY better than living with your rich new dom? I liked Max too, whenever he deigned to have a personality. Billionaire romances, as I've said, irk me more than anything, so it's honestly nice that Max isn't THAT rich, and making the grand gesture that he did for Ethan near the end was something of a financial risk that he'll have to compensate for. (Though who am I kidding; if this is a series, then he'll probably end it by becoming a gazillionaire anyway. Pretty sure I also heard something about worshipping capitalism, also unironically.) And hey, I'm simple. I've got buttons, and this book presses several of them while not being objectively awful. So it gets a thumbs up.

Oh, and shout out to Max looking at his dick and saying, 'Unacceptable' when he starts to get hard when he doesn't want to. THIS IS LITERATURE.

Really really enjoyed Nick J. Russo's narration! I don't know shit about American accents, so maybe they were all bad, but I loved how each character had an extremely distinct voice, and people from different places had different accents. He does a really good job of switching registers, and Larry, Ethan, Max and Jonathon all sound like they're being read by different people. Kudos! On the other hand, while I really enjoyed all his dialogue, I found that when he narrated prose he sounded a bit stilted and stiff? Weird, but not enough to stop me enjoying it.

So sure, I'll read a few more books in the series.

4 stars. Hot damn! *clutches pearls* Woo! That was...something. Goodness gracious. This definitely should've been longer.

I liked the writing enough, it was easy to get through and the pacing was pretty decent. I loved the Vegas setting and the characters were interesting.

The smut, tho? That *clap* smut *clap* tho?

The smut is.on.point. Like, really freaking good. I needed a cigarette after reading this.

Max is a filthy, filthy bastard with a filthy mouth and I absolutely love him! From the moment he's introduced I was just as intrigued by him as Ethan was. He had a very interesting thing going on with him
Spoilerbeing celibate
but he's a Dom through and through. I think he's probably one of the hottest and filthiest talking Doms I've come across thus far.

Ethan is the cutest thing ever! I like that he was a badass and could take down people and he wanted to work for the FBI. He was a great and witty character with a good head on his shoulders. I loved his determination and his humor. He and Max are just so perfect together. Ugh, I need the next book and I'm kinda salty that this was not even 200pgs. I wish the first and second books had been combined into one but that's just me being greedy.

Overall, I'd re-read this in a heartbeat. It was quick and fun and dirty. No complaints from me.

Rounding this up from 3.5 too, because of its addictive quality.
Do not miss if this is your kink.
Got the second one lined up.

This book wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but I think I won't continue with the series because I feel like I need to setmy standard a little bit higher. I don't have as much time for reading as I used to that is why I want to chose my books wisely
