Feel a bit bad my first review on here is a negative one but here it goes

MILD SPOILERS AHEAD

I really don't understand why this book has so many five star ratings

Yes it's romantic and has a lot of sexual content but there's no layers to the story or the characters really for that matter

Most stories have a structure where some sort of crisis pulls the characters apart for some reason, there is hardly any drama at all in this, it's mostly plain sailing from the start which is tiresome.

I feel like I don't know anything about the characters either after reading the stories other than shep was a 'love em and leave em' type character & I knew even less about jade other than she has some insecurities in bed

What I did learn about shep I didn't like. At the beginning he is a cocky crass type of guy which is fair enough I was expecting that & was expecting to grow to love him when I found out more about him but like I mentioned above I didn't. He was superficial at the beginning, all he went on about were women's t**s and a** but he continued that way right until the end. All he was interested in was sex, there was just nothing else to him. Even when he was supposedly in love with jade all I would read was his thoughts on her body.

There were a few sweet passages in the story that I liked, and it's not written badly or anything it was just disappointing

It somehow kept me interested until the end but barely, think I was hoping for it to pick up but it didn't.

I liked this book a lot. I though Jade's character was a great balance of strong and vulnerable. Shep's character had great development. He didn't automatically fall head over heels and knew without a doubt he wanted to leave his playboy ways. He was scared and unsure and yet he knew that this is what his life was progressing to.

The book had great progression until the end. The end felt rushed. Jade and shep had been scared to communicate with each other until they met his parents. after meeting the parents they said 'i love you' and they decide to move in together and that's it. While I like that the epilogue gave us a glimpse as to how they spent the summer it didn't feel like enough of a conclusion to their story.

I'm left wanting more.

Aww

Apart from the opinionated, disrespectful parental figures (bleh!) I really enjoyed this book.
Shep and Jade—while almost complete opposites—worked really well together.

The age of the characters was portrayed really well, shown through the uncertainty and self-doubt that was a constant in my teen years.

While Shep left his playboy persona behind,he definitely didn't lose his playful streak. The banter and resistance that Jade possessed had me giggling and guessing most of the way through thr book.

A great book to start the series off. Bring on Gabe's book!

2.5 stars. Honestly it was about 100 pages too long and the plot was repetitive and I found myself either knowing exactly what would happen or wishing the characters would do something different. Don’t get me wrong, it was a nice read but I don’t think I would really want to read it again. Though I’d probably give the other books in the series a chance and other books by Monica Murphy.

Fair Game was such a fun read! A little bit enemies-to-lovers and set in college. The only downsides were Jade's wishy-washiness and I didn't care much for the narrator's voices in the audiobook, but that's easy enough to look past. 3/5 for spice.

I assumed it would take a while to warm up to Shep because of the premise, but it was the opposite. He was immediately likeable and fun, but Jade was pretty hard to take. She was too rude and immature to win me over and for a lot of the story, my feelings towards her weren’t improving. But the more I thought about it, the more realistic she seemed. After all, she’s a nineteen year-old college freshman with minimal experience and Shep is from a completely different world. He’s older, rich, popular and a known player, so why would she take him seriously? It made sense that Jade thought he was using her but still struggled with her attraction to this gorgeous man. If she’d warmed up to him quicker, that would’ve made her a pushover.

This was a fun read and I loved the storyline. The fact that I liked Shep despite his callous behavior when they met was a nice surprise. The author created a guy worthy of a HEA right from the start. He did make mistakes, particularly one huge one, but he was so caught off guard by wanting this woman, his fears were understandable. That doesn’t excuse the way he hurt her, but he definitely made up for it, proving himself to her multiple times. I enjoyed Jade and Shep’s story very much and will probably check out the rest of the series.

When her boyfriend (Joel) brings her along to a poker game on date night, Jade thinks that her biggest worry is that she'll be bored senseless. Keeping herself occupied by discussing Shep (the man poker player) with her best friend, finding him arrogant and thinking his name sounds like a dog. The tables are soon turned when JAde is brought into the game as part of a bet If her boyfriend wins the next hand he gets $50k, if Shep wins he gets to keep Jade.

Shep put forward that bet thinking that Joel would refuse it and he's sure that Jade thought that too. However, he doesn't offer up any fight and promptly loses. There is something about JAde that attracted him to her, especially her red hair and her bee-stung lips. Although she doesn't take too kindly to the bet and slaps Shep hard across the face. But he's not a man to be put off.

Jade doesn't understand why Shep won't just let go of the bet and his prize. Pursuing her and weakening her resistance to him. However, Shep is well known for not dating, a one and done philosophy, not with Jade though and that scares him. Is this all just a bit of fun? Is the challenge, the chase what is driving Shep's desire for Jade?

A NA romance really nice, I loved following the romance between the two heroes, having their points of view, their first meeting (this game of poker <3) ... The only problem is the end : hyper abrupt !! I was expecting an epilogue or at least something more, a twist a little dark ANYTHING !! I was left a bit hungry for more ><
