A little big book about ordinary life, body dysmorphia and strained relationships.

The story is about an anonymous young woman who works in small pensionate. One day she meets a French comic writer. Nothing happens between them per se but they still have a deep impact on each other. However, my favorite aspect in the book is the discreet body talk. Mothers commenting on their daughter's bodies and eating habits feels quite universal. The commenting may be out of actual concern and love but it's also harmful. It may cause body dysmorphia when the need to eat and dress is not innate.

I quite enjoyed Winter in Sokcho. It was a fast read but it had a profound message. Plus the cover is a chef's kiss. It's beautiful and represent certain stillness.
