It was a good start. The history was excellent, the use of Welsh language and place names and slang was lovely to read as a Welshperson, the journey through self discovery and acceptance and everything was fantastic. But honestly I'm just bored of reading Eluned's internal monologue. The paragraphing and sentence structure is giving me whiplash (one paragraph started with Eluned making tea, and then literally the next sentence they were walking down to the beach). I stopped reading at a point where it would have finally gone somewhere, but I am so bored of reading it that I don't want to know, I do not care nearly enough.

a bit of a challenge for me because of the Welsh slang, but amazing srt in such an inspiring movement. I liked that it didn't brush off the political aspect and positioning.

I really loved the concept and history behind this book which is mostly set in South Wales during the 1980s miner's strikes. During the strikes the queer community raised money to support the miners and their families, which is how Eluned meets June and discovers her own sexuality. The story mostly follows Eluned's journey and her romance with June which is very sweet. I found Eluned's motivation a little opaque throughout, despite the fact the book is told from her point of view, and the ending is very abrupt.
