It took me ages to get through this book simply because I struggled with being made to feel uncomfortable and needing to step away from it and read something lighter. I almost quit reading it because of this but my need to see justice overpowered my ick. Clearly the writer did a great job.

Being the reader that loves all things juicy, I of course picked this book up right away from the library when I read what it was about. Celeste Price, a junior high teacher, is literally obsessed with fourteen year old boys. She cannot wait for the new school year to start so she can scope out her new options of fourteen year old boys when she comes across Jack who she believes is the perfect candidate. The whole book is EXTREMELY graphic. Like I don't even mean like some sex, I mean like GRAPHIC detailed sexual encounters. And you have to remember… with a fourteen year old boy.

Although this is the case and it's honestly a disgusting topic, I felt the book was amazing. Celeste was such an amazing character, and although she absolutely repulsed me, she was so fascinating that there are actually people out there like this. And I think it's a good lesson to show that men aren't the only people who sexually abuse, women do it, as well. It was so interesting and a book I will never forget. But believe me, it is graphic.

this was fucking insane. a truly diabolical story wow. narrator needs to be put down

DID NOT FINISH

This is the first time I have DNFd a book because of discomfort. More spesifically disgust.

It is undeniably well written, and I don't usually shy away from darker subject matters, but the graphic sexual descriptions about the assault of teenagers made my stomack turn.

I suppose, if the goal of writing is to elicit strong emotions, the author succeeded. The disgust was visceral, and that may have been the point, since the assault of boys is sometimes downplayed compared to female victims. But as someone who never questioned its depravity, this book was unreadable.
