Awesome. Loved her first book and the twists. Not a predictable ending.

I Think Emily Mae's review summed up this book pretty well. There are so many characters and so many POVs (some 3rd and some 1st) that it can be hard to keep track of the plot, especially in the first 100 pages or so. There are so many cryptic hints that just muddy the water (pardon the pun lol).

Having said that, I was interested enough to finish the book. I wanted to know what happened and to unravel all the different threads.

The ending wasn't super satisfying though. It was pretty rushed (especially compared to the pacing of the rest of the book), and it wasn't really satisfying. There were several unexplained things like
Spoilerwho wrote in the steam on the bathroom mirror, and what exactly happened to Jeannie
.

Overall, I don't know if the payoff of this book is worth all the trouble to get there. There are better suspense/thriller/mystery books out there.

Into the Water is a book which portrays and revolves around loss, anger and love. Hawkins introduces us to a big cast of characters who are all tied to the local river and the lives its taken. Some are detectives, others teachers, students, and victims.

I really enjoyed this book, it made me want to flip the pages and know the answer to everything. I believe that it's not a fast paced book, but it's not slow either. It runs like a river, some chapters are quick and rapid, while others take time to develop.

After making a chart of the characters and how they relate to one another, the reading was a lot easier. I recommend doing that if you have trouble memorizing names and relations... after a while though, it seems natural knowing each character.

I truly recommend this book to any thriller fan that likes the mysteries resolved as smooth as butter. Slowly but satisfying.

There was enough mystery to keep me intrigued, but also didn’t have the same feel as a typical mystery novel. It had the usual twists and turns.

Firstly it's more a 2.5 star rating.

I found this an ok read. There were SO many characters to keep up with and listening to it on audio book may have made it harder to keep track of who is connected to who. I also found every single character to be unlikable. I felt the same way when I was listening to The Girl On The Train, but somehow it was worse with this book.

The story picked up by about halfway, but I still found myself guessing all the small twists and turns along the way. I didn't see that last line coming though, that shocked me.

I don't know if I'll rush out and read the next book Paula Hawkins writes...

Way too many characters to keep track of who is related to who, who is in love with who, the age differences between them, etc. For most stories where it switches POV, imo, 3 is the sweet spot, and 4 is doable with good writing. I don't even know how many different ones there were in this, and it wasn't even necessary. Half the time I was so entangled in trying to figure out who was who that it lost the plot for me. It also takes a while for the story to really get going, after the first initial grab your attention opening. I think by the end I had a lot better grasp on who the characters were, but I was pretty much over it by the time anything exciting started happening or the pieces finally fell into place.
