Well…. that happened.

The first thing I have to say about this audiobook (from audible.com) is that the narrators voice annoyed me SO much. I don’t know what it was, but that voice was grating to my ears. Aside from the voice being irritating, I was also annoyed by the fact that the audible.com page makes NO mention of what number book this is in the series and it wasn’t till AFTER I had bought it that I found out it was book 4.5… great, so not only was her voice annoying to listen to but I was also being thrown into the middle of a series. Of course there was some recapping so I wasn’t very lost, but it was still annoying.

Now, as far as the story itself goes? Well…. to say it was disappointing would be an understatement. Ok, that might imply that I was expecting something from it, which I was not… and yet it still manged to to not reach even those expectations. It was a fairly average mystery story but the ‘mystery’ really wasn’t all that compelling. They are trapped in their house (a bed and breakfast type place, I’m guessing), some ghost wants them to find a bracelet for him and….. there’s a floating chicken. Oh right, most of the mystery revolves around a roast chicken, did I forget to mention that? The ghost discovery is brought on by a floating chicken and then at the end the one guy they needed to convince that ghost are real got to see a pair of chicken thighs doing the can-can in mid air. Seriously, that’s how everything is resolved, ROAST CHICKEN!

Such a cosy series, I love the premise of the plot of the books and I can’t wait to continue on.
