I’m desperately trying to space these out, as Wodehouse is such a delight. So very very funny - farce at it’s best.

There's many a racist expressions in the book but they are mostly the product of their time and, in many cases, they are used tongue-in-cheek to poke fun at the characters. If you can look past them (and also spend some time to understand quaint references and colloquialisms) then you'll find them to be the epitome of old British comedy.

An odd one; Jeeves without Wooster. He was missed, but the other characters make up for it, and the image of Jeeves in a false moustache assisting the Earl of Rowcester (also in a false moustache) to act as a bookie is fantastic

I thankfully credit Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins for putting me on to Wodehouse, but this (my second book of Jeeves) seems somehow darker and more contrived. Ring for Jeeves is, as I understand it, the only book in the series without the presence of Bertie Wooster. Maybe that’s it. Maybe it’s Costello without Abbott? Hardy without Laurel? Chaney without Bush? Whatever it is, Ring seems somehow less inspired.

I reread a couple of Wodehouse annually. Had not read this and found I missed Bertie, Jeeves’ erstwhile employer/partner in crime. Read them for the humour and farcical characterisation and plotlines. BRILLIANT.

I adored this book! This Jeeves book doesn't have Bertie directly in it though there are several humorous references to him throughout the book. Jeeves is on loan to the rather hapless Bill who finds himself in the usual spot of trouble involving love, money, and tricky relatives. I enjoyed getting to see another side to Jeeves.

Situational comedy at its best! Started off a bit slow but soon picked up pace and didn't look back since. Great satire, wonderful comic situations and some choicest dialogues. A great read.
