A super cute read! I enjoyed it for the most part, but it did start to get a little repetitive in parts. The characters were well developed and fun to read. I’m not really the biggest fan of lines like, “can I fuck you?” It kind of puts me off from a story and that was the only thing that really bothered me. Overall a solid read.

“Was it possible to have a hole inside you, cookie-cluttered into the shape of a person you hadn’t met yet? Because that’s how it felt when I talked to Jack. We were nothing alike and everything alike.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I knew from page one I would love the bell out of this book. It was one of those reads where I so desperately wanted to read the book, but felt SO MUCH on each page that I had to put it down for at lease couple minutes after each chapter. Until, eventually, putting it down wasn’t an option at all. I loved THE CHARM OFFENSIVE, but Alison Cochrun makes magic in KISS HER ONCE FOR ME. It’s got all the things you want in a slow burn—longing, pining, yearning—with the addition of holiday shenanigans, MESSY characters, and tropes galore. It also made me really, really miss Portland. I visit the city and Powells bookstore ONE TIME and then feel it haunting me like the song Last Christmas haunts Jack and Ellie throughout the novel.

Last Christmas, Ellie Oliver was alone on Christmas until she meet cutes Jack in a bookstore. The two women have a magical snow day together, but after a betrayal and the loss of her job—Ellie is alone and struggling financially as a barista this Christmas. When the coffee shop’s landlord, Andrew, proposes that Ellie fake marry him for ten percent of his grandfather’s inheritance, Ellie is desperate enough to agree. Andrew and Ellie decide to spend the holidays with Andrew’s family at their cabin, where Ellie discovers that her fake fiancé’s sister is Jack-the woman Ellie fell for last Christmas.

❄️ Messy characters in messy situations
❄️ One night stand to lovers
❄️ Fake Dating / Marriage of Convenience
❄️ Insta Love
❄️ Soulmates
❄️ Demisexual rep
❄️ Queer Christmas Romance
❄️ One Bed Trope
❄️ Snowed In

I’ll read this book over and over—Christmas or not.

Loved this book so much that it's a new favorite! It's not a 5 star book. It is a 4-4.5 star book because the repetition about the bread smell and last Christmas allusion was annoying. There were some misspelling errors that were hard to ignore too. But other than that, it was great! Great anxiety rep and I think great demisexual rep, despite what some may think
about how fast Ellie fell in love with Jack, although I can't say i have experienceas a demisexual person bc im still learning about myself
. I also related a ton to Ellie and her insecurities
due to childhood trauma and current trauma from her current situation with her parents
I think the author, Alison Cochrun, did a great job at writing about Ellie's insecurities and doubts. Very relatable and believable. A little too on the nose but JUST what I needed to read. Very inspiring. Also loved the dynamics between the protagonist, her friends, and the family. Really liked the plot twists and turnarounds too. Was skeptical at the end with that climax but I really enjoyed the falling action. Also the smut.. HOTTEST smut I've ever read. Was trying to read this in public with fam but ended up at THE scene and had to stop bc 1, fam and public were near me (which normally doesn't stop me bc most smut I've read has usually been cringe and done nothing for me and 2, SO HOT! I mean it lol I felt so uncomfortable trying to read it in public bc it evoked ~ feelings ~ lmao

AHHHHHHH. Finally, something that feels like “while you were sleeping”

I did not expect this to be so good. The beginning started off slow but my goodness it just kept getting better and better. Sure, this is Christmas romance but it also became an exploration of self love and setting boundaries.

I want more.
