Holy shit. Transphobia, anti-Semitism to the extreme, racism, edgelord writing that also goes into 2nd person and breaks the 4th wall, rape is either explicitly detailed on page or threatened multiple times so far. One of the MC POVs is a TERF, ableist comments, child SA/pornography, recreational drug use. Anti-Semitism to the max (please read CWs, this is awful.)
Reading reviews this only gets worse and more extreme. My head and heart hurts.

It’s been a while since a horror book managed to truly horrify me, but this one certainly did. It had an overpowering sense of dread through-out as well as some truly terrifying scenes. It managed to walk the thin line between misery porn/exploitation and horror imagery.
I’m taking off one star because some of the more stream of conciousness chapters were not for my liking (they’re very hard for me to read, so I don’t enjoy them as a stylistic choice), one particularly on the nose scene of swastika-related body-horror (the scene was so absurd it made me laugh) and the weird, off-putting feeling I get when I’m not quite sure of an author’s ethnicity while their work discussed racism (I couldn’t find out, if Rumfitt herself is Jewish and/or brown; if so, this criticism is totally unrelated and unfounded).

barely made it through the first half if I'm honest but the second half almost redeemed it. very clever and interesting analogy for fascism though!!

Incredibly well written and heart wrenching. I would be extremely careful when recommending it because the topic is so heavy, but it is so wonderfully done.

this had a good premise and for a good while i was really into it, like say the first half of the book. But then it got too messy and it lost me completely. I almost dnf'ed this multiple times.
Some parts might have gone over my head, the metaphors were too far gone for me. I didn't get it.
Lots of parts felt out of place and like they were going nowhere. I'm not too convinced but at the same time i didn't hate it.
