3.5 stars rounded up. Much, much darker than the previous two books combined, but I find that I really enjoy the darker turn the series has taken. It's hard to believe that the first book could ever lead to something like this.

The cliffhanger is near brutal, but the coda at the end definitely helps soften the blow some. I very much enjoyed the mated dragons and seeing all the dragons interact at the end was incredibly gratifying.

Probably my favorite in the series thus far. Am incredibly nervous to see how this ends up in the next book.
