Really enjoyed the premise of the book, although it can be a bit bleak if you think about the state of our world for too long.

Wish that there was a better focus on just a couple of timelines, rather than bouncing back and forth between several. I felt some of them just muddled up the story and made me less invested in the main ones.

It’s dark, but beautiful. It’s a lingering meditation on grief, trauma and love. I didn’t really enjoy reading it, and I’d never reread it, and there is only a very few people I’d recommend it too, but I did find it lovely.

Beautiful haunting book. View of a terrifying and still hopeful future. Reminder that we are never to small to do even just a little.

Your absence has never felt crueller. I've never hated you until now. I've never loved you more.

Absolute work of art. There's poetry in McConaghy's prose. I could swim in her storytelling.

It's a 3.5? This book was strange for me. Franny was so outside of anyone I could imagine, and the events were so improbable I had a hard time with it. I appreciated the diverse characters, but at the same time they seemed there as a backdrop to a white woman's plight. It was still engrossing, but it felt like a book I would have appreciated more as a college student and had more drama in my gut. The audiobook narrator does a pretty darn good job with all of the accents and brings the story alive with her acting, so there's that. And as a content note, I found it very difficult to get through certain parts as the mother to a son and daughter.

But also, what the heck did I just read? Did anyone grow? Did anyone learn anything? What was real?
