Franny wasn’t my favorite protagonist up until the end of the story when I finally understood WHY she was doing everything she was. I thought I understood, but I definitely did not. What a read to start off 2024.

absolutely wonderful. loved the way it was written, and the pacing between current timeline and flashbacks was perfectly executed. ending was perfect also, I was worried the story was going to conclude in a way that was disappointing but it was such a great payoff!

I found this compelling: I narrative sit in the near future, where many species have gone extinct, and the main character is trying to follow the migration of terns from Greenland to Antarctica. She makes her way onto a fishing ship filled with diverse and complicated characters, and many conflicts and wounds emerge.
