I usually love TJ's crazy rambling stories and while I enjoyed this one too, it was a bit TOO rambling and crazy at times. Kinda made my head spin. Still looking forward to the next book though!

The sheer SASS!

I laughed about this book so much. Funny, witty and in-your-face.
I am currently listening to the audiobook and I keep laughing out loud xD

It just gets a bit too much after a point.

Shrek queered and on steroids, largely written in over-the-top (and occasionally repetitive) snarky, campy banter, indulged in by both primary and secondary characters. And lots of romantic pining by two heroes so clueless they'll make every reader feel smugly superior about their own emotional intelligence.

Sweet, sexy, and absolutely hilarious. This book had me crying multiple times. Crying from laughter, crying from heartbreak, crying from sweetness. Make Donkey from Shrek a gay unicorn and Alex from Red, White & Royal Blue a wizard (apprentice) and you begin to get a sense for the characters. I'll absolutely be re-reading this.

The narrator did a fantastic job. The story itself was about 10 hours too long, filled with needless and sometimes boring parts.

If you're into pining, fantasy settings and adventures that make you feel like you're playing Dungeons and Dragons, even more pining and some genuinely good grade-A goofs, man have I got the book for you~

I actually have read this book twice - cause I wanted a refresher before I started the second and it was so good, both times - I'll probably read it again. It's always really nice to read a book where the brunt of the drama isn't because the characters are queer, which really let's this great fantasy world come to life. The world is very reminiscent of that old kingdom with knights and dragons for sure, but it reminds me so much of DnD - like sure that serious world might be the backdrop but the fun, goofy and eccentric characters that fill out the world make it special and not unnecessarily brooding. I could literally go on about how much I adore the voice and ~vibe~ of this book is world for hours.
But hey, this is a gay romance and oh boy is it one of my favorites ever. The two love interests are both interesting as standalones and develop individually with their own wants and ambitions which is great, sure, but as someone who's read a shit ton of fanfiction - if you want slow burn and mutual pining but they're both stupid I don't think I could shove this book in your face faster.
Last thing this book is genuinely hilarious - like laugh out loud, I look like an idiot on the bus funny. There’s just some really good bits and I’m always a sucker for long running jokes stupid jokes and this book just scratches that itch in the best way~

IN CONCLUSION: I adore this book so so so much, it's my first to recommend to someone and no review I could write could ever do it justice. The world and characters mean so much to me and I'm just so excited to finish the rest of the series. If you're looking for a sign to pick up maybe this review from a random dude named Jack could be it. Hope this helped, friend!

This was the stupidest book I've ever read in my entire life and I honestly have NEVER LOVED ANYTHING MORE. I'll be honest, I came into this book wanting a fantasy novel and not really a romance novel, but I didn't mind the romance so much because all of the characters were SUPER entertaining. Highly recommend!

This definitely was the oddest and silliest book I have ever read. I can't believe this author had the balls and patience to actually write this.
For such a silly book it was actually quite lengthy. What made me continue (because the plot and quests were so silly) was what was underneath all the banter. There was so much love and heartbreak in this story. I really rooted for Sam, he's such a weird but good egg. Won't continue the series, because I don't think I can handle any more sex puns.
