I really enjoyed this. Fast-paced and intriguing and most certainly worth a second read.

Definitely an interesting book. Makes you question whether or not this future world is better than our modern world, or rather makes you question which elements you accept and which you don't. It is better at world building than delivery I think. Leaves more questions than answers - what happens to queer people? is that accepted? Would a lower caste person have reacted differently to being abandoned in the "savage" reserve? I think this would've been more interesting to explore. Overall a quick read that does make you reflect however.

I enjoy that the conditioning experienced by the characters isn't something they ever fully overcome and felt that John/The Savage was the best part of the book.

I'm on vacation in Germany with my parents. I only brought two books. This campsite has a small collection of novels we can read while we're here, but the only thing in English is by Colleen Hoover. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Wording is fairly difficult. This book  feels like a dramatized version of the real world we live in today. Kinda sad but makes you reflect on what you value in life.

Amazingly prescient, very quick. Not subtle.

I read about half of it and thought it sucked ass

Not a science fiction fan by any means but trying to revisit/read some of the classics and first thought was how did they make us read some of  this in high school? The sexual promiscuity was quite explicit and I think a lot of that went over our heads back then. Beyond that, scary to think that this was written in the 30s and elements of this dystopian/futuristic society actually reflect the present/recent past and mirror some of today’s society. Hyper efficiency, insane consumerism, genetic engineering, mind numbing distractions in the form of social media, drugs, and other entertainment, etc. reads like a commentary on today’s society in many ways. An overall meh read for me though but also because I’m not spending much time over thinking/analyzing/connecting.
