I wasn't particularly cosy or thrilling, it was almost a chick flick mystery but not quite that either,   so this was strange for an amateur detective mystery.  It was also full of how desperate a woman without a man can feel,  which is not my cup of tea. this book also did a lot of  telling instead of showing, it was weird and fake feeling for characters in a small town setting to tell each other what  someone's mom has a job or what someone's personal history is when it was also established in the story that everyone knew everyone else's business so they should have already known that - it just felt like sloppy writing there.  Overall I'd call this a romance book that happens to have a mystery in it. Also it's weird that in the beginning someone tells the MC everyone in the town,  including the MC, is racist besides one old lady,  and the MC doesn't even stop to think about that for a second and instead goes on to be racist later in the book again. I don't think the author even notices this is a big deal with how casually she threw that in, but maybe  the author ignores the racism to make a more authentic southern small town? The choice of villain also makes me think the author may just disdain minorities.
