I tried reading this book a year ago and a half ago, failed.
I tried again last summer, failed.
I picked it up a week ago…and I became obsessed.
Sometimes it’s not the book, but the mindset you have when you start reading. I alternated between the audiobook (one of the best audiobooks ever) and physical copy, and I could not get enough. I love the messy characters, the development, the window into each characters lives. It’s like being transported into New York and watching it all unfold. Loved it so much.
Side note: Eleanor had me LOLing more times that I’d like to admit. Her humor is top notch.

Gave me a rollercoaster of emotions. I was rooting for Cleo and Frank to stay together but eventually realized it would only be destructive for both. I didn’t like Eleanor until she said it was out sisterhood that she suggested Frank visit Cleo in the end.
And Cleo realizing Eleanor got the version of Frank she so wanted was like a stab to the heart because it was just never meant to be her. I’m happy she got out of New York and found her place, her footing in Rome where she can make art and heal.
