Honestly don't know if any of what I've written is thoughtful in any way, and definitely not new in any way, but I just wanted to write something :)

Experience reading
When I first opened the book, I kind of gave up... I read the first bit of dialogue and I thought it was difficult and closed it again. Later when the class I had to finish reading it for came closer, I opened the pages again and realized the language is actually very readable (though this was definitely because of the version I was reading). After that inital "nope", it was easy enough to read, even for my very slow reading pace.

Don't really know if you can have spoilers for an ancient play soo... BEWARE

Interesting characters
Creon - He's a bit interesting in his complete hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness. He is stubborn in his conviction of making Polynices, and in turn, Antigone, an example for his enemies. He is so afraid of listening, which would equate to him losing to a woman, that it causes him to lose everything. When speaking with Haemon, he talks of loyalty to the family, which leads to loyalty to the state. But what he doesn't realize is that that's exactly why Antigone is defiant. She's loyal to family.
Ismene - She's also quite interesting in her fear of punishment. She tries to dissuade Antigone and doesn't help her with burying their brother, but later she is ready to die with her sister as punishment. Even though she didn't commit the crime, she is ready to take the blame.

Memorable scene
The moment when Antigone is dragged toward her death-place (?). It's heartbreaking how she is willing to die for her family even though she doesn't really want to die. She knows how unfair the situation is. That she has to be punished for protecting her family, and not actually doing anything wrong. Made me almost a little emotional.

Final thoughts
I'm quite happy that I got to read such a classical and innovative piece of literature. It has some very important literary devices and is effective at telling a story. It wasn't anything that struck me as fantastic (my taste isn't that academic). But it was still an enjoyable work to read and study.

If I've got to read a 80p play for class, I'm marking it as read here too. Pretty good overall.
