It's a good start to the series, can't wait to pick up book two! I have some issues with how much we were told about her being this great assassin but not really shown and where is the trauma of everything that's happened in her life? It must have gotten scrubbed away when she arrived, along with her dangerous status, as she was suddenly treated as the prince's equal after that.

5 Stars (always). I can’t believe I’ve owned this copy since 2013 and it has travelled with me through 4 moves. I adore Celaena, her confidence in her own abilities and her drive to get things done. I’m always a stickler for a competition and who-done-it plot, and I think this book delivers both so well. Re-reading this book I am shocked at how much foreshadowing and details are already present which become important later in the series.

A fun book to throw yourself into a new fantasy world. Though the world building could have gone deeper

I simply couldn't stand Celaena and the narration.
I asked myself if I wanted to put up with it for the rest of the book, possibly the rest of the series, and the answer was a resounding "no".
