Short, sweet, heartwarming! The heavy themes were handled with a lot of care and added a lot of depth to this book. I wouldn’t say it’s the most realistic, as everything worked out almost too well and potential problems fizzed out quickly. But if you’re looking for an happy escape into a romantic story rather than a gritty true-to-life plot, then this is for you.

*4.5 stars* Yall this book was really good, and the characters in this book just deserve so much goodness! I’m a big sucker for found family and loved that throughout this story the characters learned to rely on each other despite past traumas.

I feel that while some parts felt a little fast, overall the romance and growth of the relationship felt believable and something I was able to root for as I was reading! I flew through this book and found myself at the epilogue quicker than I was expecting. I wanted to read more from where the “story” left off to the epilogue set in the future because I just couldn’t help but root for the main characters!

I wasn’t sure about the concept of this book- I was worried it would feel like a pregnancy trope almost. But I liked it more than I thought I would. Warren was quite swoony though I had trouble relating to these characters as they just seemed so young.
I loved how the author included such heavy topics such as adoption, foster care, child protective services, abandonment, drug and alcohol abuse, fetal alcohol syndrome, deaf and hard of hearing. These all played a role in making this romance feel grounded in real life. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows and I really love a book like that.
I think Chloe and Warren were great together- and their chemistry was 🔥🔥🔥 I just wish there was a bit more depth after they got together- there was so much building of their friendship beforehand and the trust and romance that they had. But after deciding to give a relationship a try, it felt like it was mostly just physical. Maybe that’s just me though.
I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to most people- but with the warning about the tough nature of Chloe’s adoption story and her mother’s recovery. I will definitely check out more from this author.
