when people ask about what i think of filipino literature, this book is the first thing to pop in my mind

marcos era works and historical fiction such as these interest me so much -- especially this when it is told through the other perspective, the eyes of an aristocratic daughter who gets entangled in the radical ideas of her university. she is against all she's ever known.

apostol's prose confuses me. it makes me think, it makes me forget i even know how to process words. her writing is truly so unique and i have never read anything like it
