*Fairy Smut PSA: Waaaay more spicy than the other ACOTAR books.*

A book on Nesta was not what I expected, but as an older sister with anxiety and a dead dad myself, it was a wonderful surprise. Yes, the book did have a lot of directions going on at once (Is the conflict war? Feminism? Trauma recovery? Spies? Love? Family drama? Yes to all), and yes, some of the inspirational parts were a bit cheesy, but it honestly didn’t bother me because ultimately I was invested in the MC. I loved the house’s role in particular and the development of a few other previously known characters.

I’m pretty disappointed there is no resolution or development with Tamlin or Lucien, not to mention Mor’s sexuality - hopefully we’ll get that someday in the future.

somehow even cassian’s point of view couldn’t make me like nesta. it did, however, also make me hate rhys. tbh this book felt really unnecessary. why did we need 8 million pages of filler/nessian smut? maybe it’s because i didn’t like nesta to begin with and this is the Nesta Apologist Manifesto. if you’re looking for smut this is the acotar book for you, but if you’re reading because you think the fantasy elements are cool… it wasn’t bad i just hate nesta and since the whole plot was nesta i was kinda meh about it

A pretty big change in tone and content from the first few books but I really got into it!

I really had no clue what to expect going into this book, and truthfully didn't know anything about it since I never see anybody talk about it as much as the first 3 books in this series. And after falling in love with the characters from those three, I was very hesitant to get invested in this one since I wasn't sure how I felt about Nesta as a character. But I'm SOO glad I read this one. This book hit so close to home, and honestly made me cry (or want to cry) multiple times, especially the last half of the book. There's just so much character development, I love the chemistry between characters, loved the friendships that grow throughout. There's just so much to love. My ONLY qualm about this book was part of the plot toward the end
I didn't understand why Briallyn was defeated so quickly? It felt like the whole book was leading up to some big battle and then she was supposedly defeated within like 5 paragraphs because Nesta happened to get her powers back. It just felt a little anti-climactic to me.
But despite that, I still loved reading this book and I can't wait to see future novels in this series, when they do come along.

This book could have been 200 pages shorter and it would have been just as good if not better. The last 150 pages of it really sold me to the rest of the book (how typical of SJM).
