A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas was fantastic! I’ve loved this whole series so much, and I really think this book is one of my favorites of all time, along with ACOMAF. I’m so sad it took me such a long time to start this series, but it’s been a really long time since I’ve absolutely devoured multiple 600+ page books in just a few sittings. I really love how easily the narration transitioned from Feyre to Nesta, and I loved the journey Nesta takes throughout ACOSF. I love that we learn more about Cassian, but still get to see many of our other favorite characters, even if it’s a little less than when Feyre narrated. I LOVE the other characters we meet in this book, namely Geyn and Emerie, and their relationships with each other throughout the book. These characters are so wonderful and robust. They certainly feel real, and I can 100% say that my love is DEFINITELY real. I just love them and this story in so many different ways, from the pacing to the interactions, it’s pretty much perfect if you are a lover of romantasy in every sense. There’s definitely a reason this series is a fan favorite, and if you haven’t read it yet, definitely pick it up and join the rest of us waiting anxiously for the next installment.

I love this world overall, but the pace of the book felt off. The main romantic relationship had a lot of toxicity for most of the book and it made it hard to read at times.  Overall, the FMC had a lot of development. I loved her interactions with her friends and the theme of women empowering women.

Although it took me about an entire month to read it, the 750 pages were worth it! At first I was skeptical of the third person POV, but it really suited Nesta and Cassian’s story. I loved how the focus shifted between the two seamlessly, between romance and action, between lust and rage. Nesta’s character development was outstanding and happened naturally across the pages, not just all at once at the end. Once again, the last 100 pages were INTENSE and ruined me, but they were fearless and passionate and so fitting to the characters’ separate arcs.

I adored the friendship and found family between Nesta, Gwyn, and Emerie, and even the House. Nesta realizing that she did deserve love even after all of the horrible things that happened before was a satisfying plot point, even if it took her a long time to get there. We love a proper redemption story.

It was funny and sometimes ridiculous (in a good way) how Nesta and Cass tried to act like FWB for much of the book, but they were NEVER that casual. They both literally risked their lives for each other on PURPOSE before they’d ever even KISSED. It was way too laughable how they both pretended to not care for one another, and how spectacularly they failed. So stubborn, the both of them.

“The music was no longer the most beautiful thing in existence. He was.”

The grit, the determination, the unbridled power unleashed(!!!!)…. All of the right relationships gained. The SPICE!!

An incredible read, even despite the Wattpad direction that Rhys and Feyre’s story went (I still love them sooooo much but the pregnancy storyline was a little too Breaking Dawn for me).

This was my first time re-reading this book, and I think I enjoyed it more than the first.

I have read all the published works by the author at this point and was able to see and make connections this time that I missed the first time.

I had a skewed memory of how Cassian acted in this book, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that he acted better than I remember. There are still some things that I am incredibly angry at him for, but I don’t completely dislike him as a romantic lead anymore.

I think this series severely needed this change in POV as it helped form more holistic views of the different characters.

The one thing that suffered greatly from the re-read was the lack of development in the magic, fantasy and political elements. The magical artifacts are not well explained and the back stories are all poor rip-offs of classic literature. That being said I was able to fill in the gaps (and correct parts of the ending that I didn’t like/ didn’t think made any sense).

The story of self-loathing and friendship was as good as I remembered and a critical part of what makes this book excellent.
