i think it’s a sign of an incredible author when you know what the ending is going to be, or at least know that it will in no way be happy, and they still manage to leave you on the edge of your seat throughout the book and emotionally raw after turning the last page.

I just finish the book.
I have to put together my thoughts before writing a proper review.
Until then the only thing I can say is that I’m totally and utterly amazed and broken for what I just finish reading.
Best book of the year for sure, maybe best of the decade to come.

Lastly, all my pleading has been heard, I GOT THE ARC!! Thank you Harper Voyager and thank you Edelweiss ❤️

My Edelweiss request has been denied

Kuang had an epic challenge to wrap up this trilogy and this book does a reasonable job of doing this, though I did not find it as compelling or as un-put-a-downable as the previous two, I'm glad I've read it.

Initial thoughts upon finishing the book:
I hated most of the characters. I don’t think they were irredeemable, but I didn’t really feel driven to root for any of them specifically.
The ending happened too quickly. I wanted more! I wish there was a sequel…
I also have too many unanswered questions.
Was Hanalai Rin’s biological mother?? What about Jiang???
Was Venka a spy for Nezha? Or one of Rin’s delusions as she was shown to be prone to having toward the end?
I had assumed one of Trifecta survived, but I guess not?
Still unsure what the lightning does...
And what role did the Hesprians play in increasing Nezha's power?
