Enjoyed it: light reading for sick days. Not my favorite of her books, and at points I wanted to shake the main characters ... but a fun fairy tale (the fairy godmother of the story being the male protagonist's grandmother).

Loved this book! I'd forgotten how much I love Katie Fforde's writing. Perfect balance of romance & humour. The story was interesting from the off and although somewhat predictable it was still a great read.

I love all Katie Fforde books. I live in joy for the moment that I find one of hers I haven't read. This one was not the best, but great in the method that she usually writes, and I loved the setting of Cornwall!

It was cute & kind of quirky, but there was something a bit convoluted about it. Sophie is an immediately likable character. She's humble, hard-working, caring--just an all around nice girl trying to make her way. When she visits her friend in New York from England and meets a charming elderly lady named Matilda, Sophie's life changes for the better. It just takes a LONG time to get there!

Along the way, she works, helps out her family, makes new friends and connects with family members she had never met. This is where the story got a bit drawn out for me. There were a lot of "subplots" that kind of lost me a few times.

All in all, I'd recommend this book for those like me, who enjoy some romance, some humor, and a nice tidy happy ending!

2.5* A Perfect Proposal was your run of the mill contemporary romance. It was fun and I enjoyed Sophie and Matilda's characters and elements of the plot were fun but at times I felt there were too many subplots, as I wasn't entirely invested in each of them. I also really wasn't the biggest fan of the romance. There were definitely examples of language used in which it was very telling that this was written over five years ago, as there were multiple incidents when it was out dated and problematic, in terms of sexism and homophobia. Overall, this was an easy read but nothing overly special.

A good, cozy read. Perfect for fans of rom-coms and Hallmark movies. It was PG for about 2/3 of the book, then took a sudden swerve to PG-13. I'm planning on seeking out more books by this author.
