REREAD - reading this book again just made it even better in my opinion. So much is happening in the beginning and the reader it left wondering about a lot of things until about the second half of last third of the book when all the dots start getting connected. I enjoyed learning more about the fantasy world through Tharion's point of view. This book has more romance and smut than the first book. Overall, a great read (again!).

significantly better than the first book because we’re able to avoid the big info dump of the characters, world, etc. i think the plot was still a little too dragged out but i was far more interested in what was going on. i’m excited for the next book rather than nervous

If Maas got the rhythms of a Neo noir in book 1 down perfectly she seemed to be struggling more with the conspiracy thrillers she was working with here.

The middle seemed saggy, but I was attached enough to Bryce & Hunt to hang in there

SPOILERS FROM HERE DOWN

I SWEAR TO GOD IF BOOK THREE MAKES ME ENDURE MORE THAN I’M GOING TO SAY 50-70 PAGES OF RHYS AND HIS NONSENSE IT GETS 0 STARS I DON’T CARE HOW BADASS BRYCE IS OR HOW EPIC HER RESCUE OF HUNT IS GOING TO BE I CANNOT ABIDE THAT GUY
