I have to say that this was a very appropriate finale.
In a way, it was the most mature book out of the 5. Again, we didn't get internal dialog and death of childhood, but we did get an appropriate outcome. If this were a young adult or new adult fantasy, I'd expect one of the main friends to die. But this is for middle school. This is still the age where friends make it through together.
I loved seeing the stepping stones of a stronger "godly parent-child" relationship. I don't know if I'll go forward with the rest of the Percy Jackson chronicles or whatever it's called until summer, but I look forward to bridging more of the middle grade to the young adult genre.
