dark emotional sad

Just not my kind of book. Boring.

A chilling, heartbreakingly sad first hand account of life in a totalitarian regime that will give you a glimpse into the wasteland of horrors that is North Korea and make you question everything about humanity.

This is a devastatingly sad but true story of a man, born to a Korean father and a Japanese mother, whose family was conned into migrating to North Korea by the promise of a "paradise on Earth". As we know, the lie they were fed meant the author went through unbelievable hardship. We read about the mass starvation in the news - the author wrote about how they cooked pine tree bark and the terrible consequences of eating it. The Kim regime is evil and inhumane - things might have improved now but it is still unspeakably cruel.

Un relato sobre la Corea del Norte rural de los 60,70,80 y parte de los 90. Duro, durĂsimo.

This book is both beautiful and heart-breaking. I loved every second of it as much as you can love a book with such depressing subject matter.

I definitely learned a lot but it was sad and a bit sterile in the story telling.
