i loved the book and i can't wait to see sadie as tess. the story really kept me wanting more and more (hence why i read it so fast, i started it last night, fell asleep while reading and then continued right after i woke up) but i was really hoping to know more about what exactly happened with tess and that friend that got arrested. maybe we'll see more in the movie...? i definetly hope so.
I picked up this book because of my niece Zoe. When I read the cover flap I was scared to read it in case it was awful or in case i would alway think of it when I saw Zoe, but I'm glad I read it. The last few chapters had me crying in the library.
It deals with a teenager who lost her baby sister on September 11, 2001, though not in New York or on an airplane or in DC. The parts referencing that are particularly poignant. Really beautifully written. The four stars are for the last passage of the novel that sums up perfectly the feelings of loss and moving on.

Adult novel suitable for teens. One scene of semi-explicit sex. Epistolary novel where fifteen year old Tess copes with the loss of her 2 year old sister, Zoe, who was hit by a car and died on September 11, 2001. Filled with guilt and the sense that Zoe's death is her fault, Tess moves across town to live with her biological father.

It was okay. It didn’t really make me feel much of anything though. Maybe because I can’t relate. I barely remember 9/11 but to lose your sister in the same day from a totally separate incident that’s something I can’t relate to. I can’t imagine losing my sisters but I still can’t relate.
Plus this is a story about a teenage girl written by a man. I don’t really know if it’s relatable, but I don’t think so. I think he made her sound older than a 15 year old in 2000-2001. But then I don’t really know because I was 7 when it happened. I was Emily’s age.
