This was a beautiful and heartbreaking story. I loved it so much. Becky and Miguel had to go through so much, it broke my heart. I felt every emotion while reading this book.
Small town football romances have always been one of my favorites to read and this one did not disappoint. This was my first Anna B Doe book and will not be my last. The writing style was great, and I was not confused at all with the transitions between past and present. Anna did a really good job with having it all just flow together. I am definitely ready for the next book in this series!!
**I read an ARC of It should have been us and this is my honest opinion**

long
This had so much potential, but it just dragged and dragged and dragged. I wanted to dnf so many times but pushed through, but honestly just skimmed the last 30%. It could have ended so much sooner. Also both main characters were so incredibly dumb? Like I know they were young but seriously, come on. Honestly the most redeeming part of the story was Emmett and Kate. This story has potential but seriously needs some major reworking

I had a lot of fun reading this second chance, childhood best friend’s romance. The characters were fun, the story flowed well and the world sucked you in and made you want to stay in Bluebonnet. There was a lot that happened in this book and you were never bored.
I wouldn’t say perfect
This book is realistic in the fact that one kid usually gets saddled with all the responsibilities of taking care of a sick parent and putting their life on pause. The romance is cute enough, and it feels believable. You can see the end coming a mile way. But, I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

This book was perfect. Anna definitely had a way of getting the reader hooked on her story, especially the plot and character development. Rebecca and Miguel were a couple in high school, but circumstances resulted in them going their separate ways. Years later, they are in the same town and have roles in the wedding of their best friends. Miguel and Rebecca's relationship was beautifully developed, from the struggle of overcoming the issues they have both been dealing with to the final realisation of the true feelings between them.

Ms. Doe is a new to me author so after reading the blurb to the book. I knew I had to read it.
I really enjoy small town romances. This book was a mix of that and childhood friends to lovers and getting a second chance with the one that got away.
The story and the characters are very relatable and likable.
The things that happen and take place are real life experiences and issues.
I adored Miguel and Rebecca.
Miguel always knew what and who he wanted in his future. Football and Rebecca.
But unfortunately he lost the girl and also rose to fame with football.
Rebecca loves her family so much even to the point of her own happiness.
She’s a hard worker and a great friend.
But she gave up on her true love and the consequences were devastating.
It was a pleasure reading the story and getting to know the town of Bluebonnet Creek and the people living there.
I loved all the secondary characters as well. They all played important roles in the story and giving the town a sense of community and let’s not forget all the local gossip.
The epilogue was so heartwarming and the ending setup for the next book perfectly.
I’m so looking forward to reading Walker and Savannah’s book ❤️

3.5/5 ⭐️ I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Miguel and Rebecca were high school sweethearts who broke up after he left for college and never came back. When their mutual best friend gets married, Miguel, now a famous NFL hotshot, comes back into town and turns their world upside down. Rebecca’s plan to avoid him fails, because they are both in the wedding party. The more they try to keep a distance, the more they run into each other. As time goes by, her resolve breaks little by little and some secrets are coming out.
I’m a little bit torn on how I feel about the book. There were a few parts in the first half of the book I didn’t like because they were repetitive. For example a lot of the romantic scenarios felt forced because they kept repeating a lot, like the hand flexing thing. It took some time for me to get used to Rebecca, because I didn’t like how she talked to Miguel even when he wasn’t talking to her. Miguel had troubles with his family and then the people in town were also hating on him. There was a lot of unnecessary hatred towards him. It luckily turned out around for him further into the book. To read about how they cannot forget about each other and how they found their way back to on another was really wholesome.
The book sure puts you through an emotional rollercoaster. It is a heart wrenching, second chance, small town sports romance. Both of the characters have to deal with family issues and with obstacles from their past, which is surely something almost all of us experience every once in a while. In that way, it helps the readers connect more with the characters. There were a lot of cute moments in the book that had me grinning like stupid („It should have been us“ or „You can try to reason, but you and I both know that you were made for me. This is inevitable. We’re inevitable.“). Also, the spice in this book - phew.
It is the first book in the Blue Bonnet Creek Series and be sure to check the trigger warnings before reading the book! The book is out now! You can get it on Kindle Unlimited and as Paperback.
