"Man can’t be two types of beasts"

Flawed and violent characters is something that SA Cosby does so well, and Beauregard “Bug” was no different. I loved how this book tackled income inequality with a fast and furious backdrop. It was action packed and moving, and truly just a story about a man coming to terms with which beast he chooses to pursue.

Blacktop Wasteland is another gritty, action-packed novel from one of my "must-read" authors, but this one didn’t quite hit the same for me. It starts off slow, but once the heist kicks in, it’s full throttle then suspenseful as we follow the fallout. Beauregard is an easy character to root for—flawed, desperate, and trying to outrun his past—but while there were a few twists, the plot felt too predictable. That said, Cosby’s signature writing style is still amazing: super descriptive and raw. Even though it wasn’t my favorite from him, it was still an entertaining ride. 3.5 stars.
