This one was a slow burn for me.
While the ending was more realistic with everything not working out perfectly, I like my protagonist to come out more unscathed than Beauregard did.

Not my usual choice, but a good read. Very action packed, mentioned cars & guns a lot, which I wasn’t a fan of, but the themes of abandonment & the pressures of poverty was good.

I was intrigued with this book from the start.  Beauregard had turned over a new leaf to leave his old life behind and did his best to make a honest living.  Finances was becoming low, so he decided to do what he does best to be a driver.  I won't go too far into details to avoid spoilers but this was well worth reading.  This was my second book by S. A. Cosby and I'm looking forward to reading more of his books.

A “one last job” heist thriller where the protagonist drives a Plymouth Duster AND navigates the impact of generational trauma? YES this book was made for me and every page absolutely delivered.

Remind me to personally thank S.A. Cosby for this one!
