I was blown away by this book from start to finish. The story is gripping and a beautiful account of human nature. The writing is excellent - it would be totally believable if this was a true story. Characters are interesting and you instantly care about what happens to them, even if some are not likeable. I can't wait to read more by Hailey!

Love at first paragraph is what I should file this book (and only a handfull of other books) under.
I am amazed with the author's skill to address multiple complex issues (dysfunctional family, female bonding and empowerment, misogyny, cult development, trauma, propaganda, racism, ageism) while still forming a cohesive story without wasting a single word. I was captivated from the first paragraph to the last and I regret finishing the book so quickly but I could barely force myself to take breaks to cook food or go to sleep.
I was moved to tears, angry, scared and most of all contemplative. I can't remember the last time a book gave me such conflicting feelings.
This book will for sure be due for a reread in a few years because it'll be just as (or even more) relatable as it is now.
