it was quite good. i love how realistic everything was. the characters were so realistic and everything they did made sense and was believable. i think the presentation in both characters was really well done and interesting to read. i really felt like I was in their shoes tbh. also I really really appreciate the fact that it was a magical "everything is immediately fixed" ending. the way the ending was written was well done and realistic and I loved it. i like the author's writing and the pacing was good. i did not enjoy the third act breakup and I did get a lil second hand embarrassment/cringe at some points, but overall it wasn't hard to read or annoying at all. i quite liked this book. had a good time. would recommend.

The Heart Principle is a melancholic read, starkly different from the other books in this trilogy. It is also the most realistic, and is loosely based on Hoang’s own story.

Quan is my fave male character in the series, so I’m glad he really gets to shine in this book. I  feel ambivalent towards Anna, because her family really irked me. I do find that Hoang’s writing is truly heartfelt, and allowed readers some insight into what it feels like to be diagnosed with ASD at a later stage. Eye-opening.

This is not a romcom like the rest of the series, it's different. I don't think you can even call it a romance. Maybe the first part, but after that the book changes. I was told it would be different, yet it surprised me HOW different it was. I think this book should have been a standalone, since it doesn't fit with the series. There are very different themes in this book compared to the others. Also some sames ones, but this book is a whole different genre. It's a hard book to rate, since I have conflicting feeling about it. The romance part didn't really work for me, something felt missing. Anna showed character development, but her not being herself and not being able to say no was frustrating. Quan was a great, very sweet and patience. Just what Anna needed. Though I'd have liked it more if we got to know Quan better. He seems to disappear for a big part of te book. Yes he is still mentioned, but yet seemed to have a small role. Part of the book was emotional, and heartbreaking. The different parts of the book are so different that it is hard for me to see them as a whole.

Obrigada Helen Hoang
