i think the book was realllllly draggy especially in the beginning and i did not enjoy hugh being a pompous bitch with his saviour complex (i get it is a historical romance but still) and the miscommunication. oh. my. god. spare me. and the conflict is kinda dumb (but i guess reasonable to an extent)
it started getting good towards the end as far as romance goes and i thought some parts were cute and they have sex scenes which was pretty good
think historical romance is just not for me (update: not true i've read other historical romance and they were good this one was just not it)
wish that were me meter: 3/5
sun snu meter: 3.5/5
overall: 2.5/5
there are better historical romance books out there

📝 A fun lil regency romp. A bit comedy of errors as the MCs try to navigate the farce that they are engaged to convince MMC's mother. Hijinks ensue. MCs fall in love. The usual.
🎧 Dual POV, male and female narrators. They were both good. There was one side character who is American, and the female narrator's American accent was pretty atrocious, but other than that (and the American doesn't speak all that much so it's easy to put aside), the performance was great on both parts.
🌶️ 2/5 There were two ardent kissing scenes and one sex scene but it was pretty tame.
✊🏳️🌈 No diversity to speak of, unless we count class diversity.

Hugh was too annoying for me to really like this book. "But my Standish bloodline means I can't love you" ugh please stop.
Spoiler
In the end when they reveal his father was a good person, he's like ohhh my blood is good! Shouldn't the lesson be that blood doesn't define you??wendeedeedee36's review against another edition

Very entertaining and quirky. I felt the relationship between Minerva and Hugh switched from enemies to lovers a little too quickly without much development in there, but it didn’t ruin the story for me either. I would love to see Venus mature a little bit in the coming stories. Can’t wait for Giles and Diana’s story!

No me gustan los amores a primera vista pero un gran final romantico es simplemente perfecto.
