I absolutely devour fairy-tale retellings, and due to the magnitude of stories I consume, I tend to be overly critical of the works I find. This book, however, was everything I look for in a writing of it's kind. The characters were all intriguing, the magic and lore was divergent without being over-complicated, and the story itself was light and wholesome while having a definite edge. I especially appreciate the fact that the story wasn't just a copy and paste of Disney's version of the story.
