Interesting to see the first seven Green Lanterns interacting with each other and discovering what the rings can do. Also cool to see Simon and Jessica train them.

The final issue is a filler and...it was bad. It wins the award for saying the word “pancakes” more times than any other singular piece of media in existence. Also the art was weird in that one.

Nice to revisit Jessica and Simon after my foray into Blackest Night. These two are so endearing, I love their friendship and the fascination with pancakes (though I'm often hungry by the time I reach the end of one of these volumes!). Roll on volume 6!

I like this one. Jess 'leading' is something uncommon and she somehow made it despite her anxiety.

Such an odd collection of issues here. I always like Simon and Jess, but jumping from working with the first Lanterns billions of years ago to trying to eat pancakes and go to a party was jarring. I like when they focus on their dynamic, but they can't seem to find a story that suits it.

We discussed this further on an episode of Comic Book Coffee Break: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMs6EmEqQqw

Sam Humphries is doing a great job writing the new characters and showing that even though they are superheroes they are still relatable humans with flaws.
