I really enjoyed this until the last 100 pages, then it was just kinda ridiculous. Otherwise, it was fun to delve into a world I will never be a part of.

This is my comfort book/movie I swear

This one’s tough to rate. It was entertaining, but a few parts gave me the ick—mostly how the (male) author portrayed women. Almost all the villains were women, and the men were pretty much flawless. Just reminded me why I usually prefer books written by women. It was written over 10 years ago, so maybe that plays a part. 🤷🏻‍♀️

very fun book! full of theatrics, satire, and sly comedy. i really enjoyed how it bounced from character to character, i appreciated getting to know some of the other characters a bit more. the ending was….an ending? i know there’s more books in the series, but what was that? a good “breather” book. dare i say i enjoy the movie more….

I'm not sure if it was the narrator's cadence, the brand-name-dropping, or what, but I came away from this feeling like the writing left something to be desired. I just really don't care about people's outfits!

Rare case where it's better to watch the movie first
lighthearted medium-paced

Better than I expected, more a tour through a foreign society than the romance novel the cover portrays. The characters are certainly caricatures, but the individuals are not the point so much as the variety and contrast demonstrated within the larger family tree. Well written and enjoyably told, this one surprised me.
