This one hit different. There were times I had to force myself to finish it, but then there were times I couldn't put it down. The ending caught me off guard. Happy I didn't predict it though.
3.5/5⭐️
This is my first Jess Lourey’s book and I find the concept of following true crime stories and I was really interested in what the story would be about. So they are inspired by true events and this one takes place in Minnesota in the summer of 1977. So I’ll start with I didn’t love the charcter we followed throughout the book. There were a lot of little details that made me uncomfortable especially the details relating to her father and her feelings about him. But the plot and message overall were really good. It’s the epitome of why women choose the bear after everything that happened in this book, especially for these girls who are still literally children. The end is what made the book. Jess’s writing was really good and again the message was also so good and definitely made up for some parts of the book.
