This author desperately needs an editor. Yeah, there were two ideas in this book (carbon coins and drilling to draw water from base of glaciers), but these interesting bits were surrounded by endless drivel. Even the characters are one-dimensional and engender no sympathy. Last I read from this guy.

The problem with social/eco/enviro theories being presented in a fictional format is that they are heavy on the exposition and low on the emotional/setting descriptors. Characters too. Not a lot of character development.

It was okay.

The start of the book was horrifying in that the setting was pretty much in the now and how terrible the world is and that was a punch to the gut on the helplessness of living in a world that was burning. As time passed, and theoretical solutions were implemented to save the world and its inhabitants, you started having hope.

Maybe our future will be okay?

It was so so good but started to hit a little too close to home with what was happening in the real world at the time with all the presidential election uncertainty and massive deadly heat waves, and it was just really bumming me out and I wanted something that felt like a distraction from the current times instead of a commentary on them.

Really good book. A very real look at our near future and how challenging it will be to make the changes we need to, with a bit of a West wing optimism

Propaganda from the future to us.

This book a line with my pre-existing political believes so take what I have to say with a grain of salt if that’s not you. To me this book was really important and for the climate crisis and the challenges that humanity has ahead of us into a sharper perspective than I’ve ever experienced it before it’s alarming how much we have just excepted what’s going to happen without truly taking the time to reflect on what that means. This booky is some thing that I would consider a must to me. Tonight attacked and some of the most effective propaganda I have ever read. And I say that like it’s a good thing
