I LOVED [b:A Dirty Job|33456|A Dirty Job (Grim Reaper, #1)|Christopher Moore|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1331323415s/33456.jpg|3258721]. It's the first thing of his I read, and it remains my top recommendation for people who I think might like him. Unless they're vampire nuts. Anyway. I love me some Christopher Moore. This is not my favorite Moore. There are some flawless laugh out loud lines. There are too many penis jokes. It's a little more absurd-creepy than absurd-silly.
-If you loved A Dirty Job, and didn't mind the Squirrel People, by all means, pick this up. They were my least favorite part of that book, and they're back here in a big way.
-If you're a big Minty Fresh fan, pick this up. He's pretty much all the best parts of this one, and there are some good Rivera/Cavuto bits too.
-If you haven't read A Dirty Job, don't read this first. Duh.
-If you're hoping for a lot of Sophie and the hellhounds you might be a little disappointed. Also see above re: Squirrel people and dick jokes.

Fun and funny with the return of many likable characters. Easy, quick read. A good follow up to A Dirty Job.

Listened via Hoopla.

It's been some years since I read A Dirty Job, but I love the SF connections and the Emperor. I like knowing where everything is taking place- like Grace Cathedral. Could use more (any) scenes on BART though, like A Dirty Job had.

And as always Moore is just of irreverent jokes/references to sex/and just regular ridiculousness, which is really fun. Great fluff to take your mind off the heavy things. Would recommend.

I don't like that the universe is broken. I keep all my shit there.

I loved this installment even more than the first. I finished it in one day, that says everything. This one was even more hilarious, and the new mythology introduced was kind of amazing.

I ADORE Sophie's new aggressive potty mouth. Especially the threats to "smack that bitch up" because the Tooth Fairy neglected her duties.

I forgot to mention in my review of Dirty Job that I can't picture Charlie as anything other than:

So, even with the Charlie/Mike switch here, I'm still picturing Fisher Stevens. Just a REALLY ripped Fisher Stevens. It makes everything even funnier.

I really don't care about his relationship with Audrey? Like, I realize I should be happy that he moved on to someone after his wife died, especially since she got Rachel's soul and all. But the trouble is every single factor that describes Charlie's "beta male" ness is EVERYTHING I hate about a certain kind of man. It explains everything. So, no. Don't care.

But Wiggly Charlie is my all-time favorite character of anything ever. NEED A CHEESE!

Lemon Fresh! I need Pine Fresh! FRESH PRINCE!

I knew Lemon was going to be a relative of Minty. The description was too close, and FS used the same vocal sound. Their interactions were problematic, but fascinating.

I could read an entire book series about the ghosts on the bridge. I wonder if Moore wrote any more than just the two. Because I WOULD READ THEM ALL.

I would also read a short story about the Banshee running around shrieking and stun gunning people, but that's just me.

SUCH a fun series. Give me more!

I’m not sure how to rate this. Just in general, compared to every other book I’ve read I would give it 5 stars. But compared to Chris Moore’s other books, and Dirty Job specifically (as this is its sequel) I think 4 stars is more accurate.

I recommend this, but I highly recommend reading A Dirty Job first.

Not quite as brilliant as A Dirty Job but still a must read for any fans of Charlie Asher, The Emporer, or Christopher Moore.

It took a long time to get into this book because I had not re-read his previous book that had these characters in it. The usual humor, weirdness, and San Francisco scenery. A nice diversion, but too short.
