I thought I was going to love this but I struggled initially to connect with the characters and world. I did start enjoying this from around the 60-70% mark once I knew each of the characters and was following the magic system a little more! I really loved Roark and how he communicated. I did overall enjoy this and I will definitely be reading the next one when it comes out. I saw the cliffhanger coming but still enjoyed it regardless!

One of those books that will require a re-read because there’s so much happening that doesn’t really make sense to you until the very end when it’s explained. Starting off, this was an really enjoyable read. For someone who doesn’t usually read “romantasy”, it didn’t read like the genre which often turns me off with its writing. The characters were very likable with dimension and maturity. Kael is my favorite! I loved the idea of bone melding and the fact that stealing the bones from dead people will corrupt the soul. I just would’ve loved to have some answers before the last ten pages! 4 stars for now, but they might go up after I re read it.
