I didn’t really want a complicated book where I couldn’t pronounce the names. Is this just like all the other romantasies? Seems like it.

There was a lot of telling vs showing but I still enjoyed the story. 

Some of the things that Roark said seemed out of character and felt like it was included just to be quotable on social.

It was also a bit of a turn off that there was no talk about contraception.

I'll read the next book because I like the author but I'll be going into it with more mild expectations.

This book is AMAZING.  Such a unique magic system.  The world building is so good, and Lyra and Roark are simply the best!  Can't wait for book 2!
