Listening to the audio book was so worth the wait on Libby for me! I got to follow along in my physical edition as well! I'm feral for Roark and Lyra! I couldn't get enough of the magic system in this one, weaved with the Norse elements, it's all just *chefs kiss* 🤌🏼💋
The 3 taps really resonated with me because I do something similar with family, only it's 3 hand squeezes. The side characters as per the usual with LJ's writing are incredible here! Thane may just have my heart tbh. 🥹

This was my third attempt at reading this book and the furthest I’ve made it so far.
I love this author and have loved every other book I’ve read from her, but I just couldn’t get into this one. It’s boring and the writing is really clunky and there are so many things that just aren’t explained well. The world building has been really muddy and very telling rather than showing and it makes the story hard to follow.
I also just don’t care about any of the characters. We are told that there are certain relationships between characters but don’t ever get to see those relationships. The relationship between Lyra and Kael for example feels very forced and the reader is just supposed to believe that they are like siblings but their interactions are so awkward and forced.
Last thing I can’t get on bored with is the romance. It feels forced too. Lyra has 10 times more chemistry with Thane than she does Roark. Also this is supposed to be enemies to lovers (or that’s what’s told to the reader) but every scene with them is very insta lust.
I found myself dreading to pick this one up because I’m just bored and not interested. Life is too short to read a book you’re not enjoying.
