Min Jin Lee you are so right there is so much more to life than this. This was messy and complicated and frustrating and just…so good!

I struggled the ENTIRE TIME to find a character that I didn't hate. IDK why that was so difficult considering there were a billion characters (most of whom unnecessary). Perhaps it was progressive circa 2007, but in the Year of the Lord Jesus Christ, the misogyny was nauseating.

This book had so much potential. I loved the premise of an Asian cast in New York City navigating the upper crust, but omg. The structure, the storyline, the character development (or lack thereof), the lack of nuance over very serious topics ASEOGIEHFFLJALJGE. Please Min Jin Lee or ANYONE, can you do a rewrite pls n thx
