What if, thanks to witch curse/witch blood you (can) change your gender? Meet Mao! A girl, now a boy, then a girl, and so on.

I just had to have this fun manga when I spotted it in the newsletter for a German manga publisher. It just sounded way too much fun and I was curious to see how things would go for Mao.

In this one we meet a girl named Mao. She isn’t happy with the male part of the population (and who can blame her?), but what if the next morning you are part of that male population. Yes, ladies and gentlemen. She is now a he. I thought Mao’s dad would flip, but we quickly learn a big truth about dad that even had Mao go, WAIT WHAT???? and made me laugh. This really flips the script and I am curious about that ancestor/witchy business that happened so many years in the past. I did love how chill Mao’s dad was and also went to help Mao out with things that needed to be prepared. Because, until now Mao was a girl, and well, you can imagine you cannot just have her go back to the school as the boy she now is. It is time for a fresh start! Plus, I loved that the dad was fully helpful and allowed Mao to discover this new part. And even talked about that he would be there should Mao have made a decision. I guess he is happy that Mao gets to make that choice.

And that means she is now living as a boy. Which made me laugh, because while Mao is now a boy… Mao is still very self-conscious about everything. I mean, I could understand. If my mind was still a girl, but my body was a boy, and I would have to shower/bathe with boys or sleep near them? Yep, my mind would also be like sputter sputter blub blub
