If you thought miscommunication was a new problem in modern day romance books… well Austen has proved you wrong. Miscommunication and misunderstanding abound in this novel about sisterhood, excessive feeling and true love.

Though a well written story, I didn’t enjoy this as much as Pride & Prejudice, and admittedly I’ve discovered that I find Austin’s writing style confusing at times (read: I’m not smart enough for Austin’s works). However—this is a very older-sibling-responsible-for-everyone-around-them coded story, so if that resonates you’d probably enjoy Sense & Sensibility!

A little more transparent than her other work, and generally lacks the fullness and generosity of P&P or Emma. But it's still touching, and lots of fun

I loved the inteligence in which the two main characters on this book are handled and the romance is not the focal point on this book althought this one suffers from many issues other books from Jane i think is a interesting take on emotional inteligence and given the context of the time i think was done pretty well

I enjoyed the themes explored between the sisters and society at that time but I did find it boring and pacing was a bit all over the shop

Listened to it read by Juliet Stevenson, who is a-mazing. So much better than I would read it myself, brings each character to life. Nothing particularly original about this story or the nature of the relationships, but it's ageless and timeless and feel-good.
