Tough content for sure but so well-written with surprising twists it kept me going, like every Slaughter book I have read.  The sister bond and the descriptions of place and frame of mind were strong. Definitely check trigger warnings.

A super solid thriller/mystery that I couldn’t put down. Super messed up and gory (many TW) but I enjoyed it. The second half was a little bit predictable but still kept me incredibly engaged & wanting to see what happened. Claire got on my nerves a little bit (why are you putting on makeup when there are *much* more important things to be doing…?) but overall a really good read that kicked me out of a reading slump & is just what I’m looking for in this genre!

I found the beginning a little slow and I think this book could have been a bit shorter but it was really good. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator’s over pronunciation of “wh” words like why, white, what, etc. drove me INSANE but I recgnoize that’s nitpicky but it did truly effect my listening experience. Also, make sure you read your triggers. This book gets pretty graphic about sexual violence, murder, and deceased bodies so if you’re sensitive to those things proceed with caution.

I liked it a lot. Lots of content warnings for this book. There are many graphic depictions of rape and torture. I like to think I have a pretty strong constitution when it comes to that kind of subject matter, but the book felt like it was even too much for me at times.

The story itself was enjoyable and the author did a good job of slowly fleshing out the mystery of the main antagonist. The two sisters dona good job of complimenting each other. But it should be emphasized that this book isn't for everyone.
