Fun, fast-paced fantasy adventure. Highly recommended for ages 9-12.

An exciting adventure story with a funny, spunky heroine.

Really love this character and the great humor sprinkled throughout this fantasy story. Love the exploration of Indian culture as well.

My favorite part of the story were the random side characters, especially Chritigupta, feminist icon, such a dad, loved him.

When it was revealed that the Sleeper was Aru's dad, I thought that was so exciting and would complicate the dynamic between him and Aru, making him more than a one-dimensional villain, but aside from some backstory, it didn't really add anything to the story overall, which was disappointing. That's how I felt about most of the other character relationships also. There would be exposition and not much follow-through

Really great read for middle schoolers. Interesting to see the incorporation of Hindu culture in a childrens book! Aru Shah learns about family. her culture, friendship and the art of storytelling through out this book! I enjoyed this so much.

Absolutely riveting 😁
